This is pretty much Paramore week on my blog...it's a big one for them, so I'm obvs supporting in full force...and you could expect more to come.
Today they released their new video "Crushcrushcrush" on TRL.
I still can't believe how far they've come in just one year.
Check out their live MTV performance in NY at the Hard Rock Cafe earlier this summer. I haven't seen a live performance so strong in a very long time...not to mention the crowd gives me the chills.
Finally...Dagger has her own night supported the Stolen Transmission party! It's seriously gonna be so awesome, you have no idea! Erica always rocks the house, so expect your feet to be sore Saturday morning from dancing all night long.
Come, come, come...and be dalancable with us. (yes, I just made up that word, and I know you're already using it on your current im conversation). Wuurd.
Mucho has been going on in my world, but nothing too exciting. Just workin like a bee, tryin to stay sane in this industry of hell. This is why I've slacked on the updates this past week. As you know, I didn't get to stop by Angels & Kings last night for Trainwreck, but I do promise to have Trainwreck/the Cartel Afterparty pictures up by sometime tonight...so check back later.
Oh, and in my last post, I lied...Paramore was not performing on TRL Tuesday, it's Thursday instead. They pre-recorded the show on Tuesday hence why I got a little confused. So now, if you missed both shows, you have one more chance! And, um, can we just talk about whatever happened to the "L" part in TRL? K thanks.
Anyways, they are home now enjoying some quick time off before they head out on yet again another tour, but here they are in Monday's performance on Conan.
PS...the sound wasn't that great. The band did an awesome job, but it sounded way too muffled and dry. For some reason, talk shows can't get it right when setting up rock music.
I can't believe I'm up this late (or this early?) but I'm here to tell you that you best be plopping yourself in front of the tube tomorrow...er, I mean tonight?
Yet again, I'm so stoked for them. They just flew in from Australia a few hours ago, so I hope they rest up. Jeremy's got a beard...like a real full grown beard. You gotta see it for yourself.
Annnnnnnd, if you don't watch tonight, we just aren't real friends. Performing is their forte...I promise you will love it. If for some reason (like your cat died or something) you miss it...they are performing on TRL (*edit*)Thursday (*edit*). Basically, you have no excuses but to see at least one of their performances. Now set those DVRs!
Today started quite early for me. I woke up at 6:30, showered, and prepared to spend 12 hours around 6ft tall, gorgeous, foreign women.
I rolled into the studio around 8:00, set up all the garments I needed to dress my model in, and mingled with the photographer and his assistants since there was a huge chunk of downtime. The two models arrived at 9:00: Marlene (pronounced Mar-lain-a) from Germany and Nadia from Russia. Both were obviously beautiful, but neither looked like the pictures on their comp cards. Nadia is a Paris Hilton look-a-like, and Marlene kind of looks like a played down version of Angelina Jolie. Hair stylist, Raphael, and makeup artist, Mario, started on the girls not too long after. The set was already finished being set up, so we sat with the photographers David (a dead-ringer for Ryan Gosling), Jason, and Jose. These guys were totally cool, and I could have easily invited them out to AK one trainwreck night...lol. Jason is from Georgia and 6ft 5inches tall. He recently chopped 12 inches of his hair donated to Locks of Love and shaved his burly beard for a Glamour magazine makeover (look for him in an upcoming issue). Shaw, the designer, was not so flamboyantly gay, but had a definite sense for fashion. His 15 year-old son (yes, that's correct), Alex, came in and got some headshots taken during our lunch break to jumpstart his own modeling career. I did not believe he looked a day under 21. He, too, was a spitting image of someone famous: Ryan Atwood from The OC. Dang, why can't I look like somebody?
Anyways, I didn't expect these girls to be bitchy or anything, but I didn't expect them to be sooo nice. Marlene was so so so so sweet, and Nadia was hot-to-trot and full of laughs. They were fun to be around, and now I understand why the booking part of America's Next Top Model is so important. It just makes the whole day so much more gratifying and less stressful. They were totally down to buisness when necessary, and I must say...got the job done (fabulously).
I was so happy with how the day went...and not one moment was unpleasant. Everyone was in good spirits leaving me with a great start to the weekend and me daydreaming about my comfy, cozy leather couch back at my apartment.
Tonight, Parker, Dagger, and I trecked out to Williamsburg to support and see Alex & Ryland's own band (they're, also, both in Cobra Starship) at Luna Lounge...and, pretty much, to see the lovely Lauren Ashley play the trumpet. Honestly, I have to say my expectations were high considering just the way they dress. Those guys can outdress any guy I know and have more class than....uh, I tried to make an anology, but came up short...you know where I'm going with this, though. That and the fact that Alex and Lauren Ashley are, by far, the cutest couple on this planet. You want to hate 'em for it, but you simply can't. They're too adorable. Anyways, it was a great show and all I could think about while I was listening to them play was, "where are they selling their EP?" (I picked it up immediately after). Erica and Jessica put it best on what their sound is like...I wish they were here to explain it, but since they're not, I uploaded one of their songs for you to check out. Oh and you should def check out their myspace page, as well.
Thanks to OhNoTheyDidnt and my gal pal, Becca...I've been hugely disappointed and let down. After all the faith I put into this reality show (Rock of Love), my love for you has tumbled. *tear*
Read the following in you're interested or wanting to feel sad:
Rock of Love's Jes -- spolier-y myspace mystery! I was browsing an earlier ONTD post about some info found on one of the Rock of Love contestant's MySpace pages. I decided to dig around and came across some interesting (and possibly spolier-y) information about Jes.
On Jes's official Rock of Love MySpace page, she has a huge pic of herself modeling for a company called Chii Clothing. If you go to Chii's MySpace, you'll find a hot guy named Quade there. Quade's MySpace has pics of himself looking cozy with Jes:
Both Quade and Jes list themselves as "In a Relationship." And there's a mysterious girl who calls herself "~ Anchor ~" who is one of Quade's top friends (right beside the "official" Jes), and has posted several comments on his page, including a ton of cryptic, flirty messages about boats and water. Here is Anchor's MySpace user pic:
Coincidentally, she is 23 years old and from Illinois, just like Jes. So I think it's safe to assume Anchor = Jes. I should also mention here that Quade's MySpace title is "••FUC VH1•• And Fuc you wierdos!!!" and Anchor's MySpace title is "I agree with Quade." Hmmm....
If Jes did end up winning Rock of Love, it sure doesn't look like she stayed with Bret for very long after the show wrapped!
Somebody pls save these cute puppies. They need a home, and they only have a few days until they have to be turned over to Animal Control. Pls help. Go to Sarah's blog for more information...and forward this on to anyone you think would be interested.
I'm missed 3 of the past 4 Tuesdays...and tonight will not be another one of those ones skipped. Everyone's coming out...so you should too! Let's drink, hang, and be merry.
Some clever Joe thought to capture the beauty that is of Heather's 80's porn hairstyles. I have no idea why I couldn't think of this brilliant idea first, but in honor of her graceful loss, I am here to show it off. There's nothing I look forward to more every week than seein what slooty, 80's look she comes up with at the eliminations.
But really, I have to congratulate the adorable Jes for winning Bret's heart along with the rest of the reality-obsessed America.
So Friday was Parker birthdayliscious. We began vegan style at Red Bamboo's sister restaurant, VP2, and got pregnant with soy babies. Dinner was so delicious, I don't think we should celebrate birthdays anywhere else. Wanting to keep the evening low-key, curbside heading back to Decker's apt. We had party favors, ice cream cake, Dagger specialty drinks, mad libs, and notables ...where I regretfully fell asleep on the couch. Something has been wrong with me lately and I've been sleeping excessively. Ah well...the point is...it was Parker's birthday and I hope she had the amazing day she deserves. Hey, if I dropped my pants for her, I'm sure it was.
Besides Gossip Girl and America's Next Top Model...I am currently obsessed with LA Ink. Three shows to be obsessed with in one season is quite the butt load. Of course, you can see how watching this show has gotten me EVEN MORE into the idea of getting a tattoo...so I opted for my own temp version via the Dagger:
A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing chips from a neighborhood shop. The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos. Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds. The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in A berdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of chips. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of chips. Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny.
I'm in love with this new video from Vanessa Carlton. Nolita Fairytale.
Having been a while since "White Houses," a song about sex (did you catch that?), this new single came as refreshing new start for the singer. I've come to really enjoy her writing style. It's simple, yet pleasing.
I was never necessarily a huge fan of hers, but once after seeing her play live (one of my favorite singer-songwriters, Ari Hest, was opening for her), I had a newfound respect for her. She wasn't the pop artist MTV/VH1 made her out to be. She was very real...and a skilled pianist. Her experience as a professional ballerina gave her a unique style added to her music as she uses melodies that you can almost visualize dancing in your head. She has a style that I can relate to and makes it totally easy for me to enjoy.
I may have been captured by her video "Nolita Fairytale" before the actual song itself, but I'm sure you will be hearing me sing the tune around the house or in the office (Temis and I have a "song of the day" we like to have to keep us going) in no time. Whatever it is, it makes me smile.
Check out her new video and see how cute she portrays New York City (far too often viewed as dirty, dangerous, and devious) as pleasant/whimsical.
...but I change my mind every 2 friggin seconds about what I want. I guess that means I shouldn't get one...huh? Actually, I don't really change my mind, there's just a bunch that I want (and that would actually mean something to me, too)...I just assume I'm craving one because I have zero! Someday, I swear I will be getting one...or two..or three. Hehehe. My parents will not be happy...although, my mom DID say she'd get one if they made ink that would disappear after 5 or 10 years....and she loves watching Miami/LA Ink. We have a bargain going on...I think I can make it happen.
Oof. I'm 25...I can obvs do whatever I want, I just don't want to break their little hearts. I lurve them too much. Oh dear, o dear....parents!
Ok, since I haven’t done this yet, I have to state that everyone must go out and buy Motion City Soundtrack’s new album “Even It Kills Me”...because, well, I might be killed if you dont and also, because it’s pretty amazing. Trust me, you want to own it. And please buy it…don’t download. That’s so lame, we’re old enough here (grownups, if you will)...we should be supporting our artists. This is how they make their living.
Go buy "Even If It Kills Me"...now, now, now!
I can haz bench in livingsroom? (credit: parker and her new blog)
...is also my own. I have to say, I was a little disappointed when they showed a clip show this weekend instead of the finale for VH1's Rock of Love, but I am super stoked to see it this weekend. And FINALLY, Lacey the devil, is gone. Good lord, it's about time, Brett Michaels!
I really hope Jes wins. She's hot, she's real, and she's sane (I think). At this point in the game, though, I have looked past Heather's stripper-stuck-in-the-80's fashion sense and have come to realize she probably has the most genuine feelings for Brett. I guess you can say I would be happy either way.
Since mon hiplog is dead...should I just post what I normally did there on here? Most of it was random worthless pictures but the contents were more like that of a trash bin. It was the only thing I allowed public. Here, I just tell my friends about (and whoever stumbles upon it...whatever), but the hiplog I left to lurkers who were actually interested (though, probably not). I just dumped all my photos and quick notes there. Maybe I shouldn't have been so careless and actually put some thought into it...I can't help it, though, I have some type of OCD and feel the need to post my whereabouts, everyday activities, and such mindless things constantly.
So I kinda have this thing for a hipster. He's a little scruffy (just the way I like 'em), shorter than what I usually go for, and is a great kisser...not to mention he gives me the cutest puppy dog eyes ever! His name: Monster.
I'm sure you've all heard me boast about him before, but I seriously love him as if he were my own. His cute little face and the hair that hangs in front his eyes. I just want to hug him forever. He's like the stuff animal I always dreamed of...REAL! My Libby would be jealous if she knew that I so much as let him sleep in my bed.
Anyways, I writing to tell you that tomorrow he is going to be on the TODAY show (with Mama Becca, too)!!! Basically, they just want to show off how darn cute he is...you have to watch! It'll be on somewhere around 10 or 10:30. NBC. Don't miss it! I can't wait to watch it on DVR (I'll be miserably at work).
It really sucks. I thought you and I were gonna last forever.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is...Hiplog is no more. The site I once knew, loved, and treasured is gone and gone forever. It will no longer let me and fellow hiploggers post pictures from our daily lives letting you know what concert we're at, what street we're walking on, or what we had for lunch. You will no longer see pictures of ourselves making the same ugly scrunch nosed/annoying kissy faces everyday just to make sure you don't forget our "adorable" faces. Grrr...grrr...and triple grrrrr! After all this time and effort! I will not lie, that was half the fun of having a dang sidekick, and now...your not only making us sign up to a new blog (the supposed replacement hiplog), but we manually have to transfer our blogs ourselves. Way to take responsiblity for your own actions. How immature! Don't expect a phonecall from me...I won't be back. I'm already over you.
You must not know 'bout me You must not know 'bout me I can have another you by tomorrow So don't you ever for a second get to thinkin' You're irreplaceable
So since I'm not your everything How about I'll be nothing? nothing at all to you Baby i won't shed a tear for you I won't lose a wink of sleep Cause the truth of the matter is Replacing you is so easy
Last week The Used were in town and performing at Roseland. I went over early to hang out with Perry, Angela, Sadaf, & Jess. While Perry and I were waiting for Angela to finish up photoshoots with the band, we got hit on by prepubescent teens (ok, maybe they were in their late teens, but to us, that's still young...even for me). We felt as awkward as a freshman at Prom. This is when we decided we needed a drink, something we couldn't do when we were fourteen. None of us had eaten that day or at least, since morning...so we hit up the hot dog stand and ordered a bun. (the actual dog? gewww!) We made our way upstairs to the balcony to hang out, chill, and get away from the raging concert goers. We had an awesome view, so, of course, I took out my camera to snap away. There was a photographer next to me who pulls out his big Rebel XTi (it's an expensive camera) and here I am with my itty bitty, puny digital cam. When he offered to trade, I told him not to tempt me...I've been wanting a legit camera for a while now. Monies is the only real problem. I can't afford extravagencies like that right now (I just bought myself a Macbook...yes, I'll save that for another entry). I got some cool shots from above the crowd, though. They were amazing. I think my favorite part was watching them all jump, clap, yell, and mosh in unison. There was one song where Bert splits the crowd and gets them ready to basically charge eachother like bulls. It was something that was both scary and amazing to watch at the same time. I was sure someone would get hurt and realized this is how kids die at concerts. Luckily, the drama didn't unfold the way I envisioned it in my head. It looked like two opposite wave currents smashing into each other except it was people instead of water. I caught it on video because I knew this was something you just have to see for yourself. It was insane. Pls see below:
Other than that my week was consistantly low-key. Going out on a Monday night exhausted me and set the tone for the rest of the week. I stayed in most nights and attempted work on my portfolio. It’s coming along, but I keep changing it up. My mind is wanting to try new ideas every time I get started (probably because I've deprived it from creativity for so many years). I was supposed to go karaoking on Thursday evening, but I felt lazy after a long day at work. I'm slightly disappointed I declined my invitation as Becca and I had a debut scheduled. Suarez ended up filling my spot and jeopardizing the reputation of the fabulous duo and our future together. I'm saddened by this so I challenged him to a gangsta's paradise showdown. Lets see if he graciously accepts.
Friday, Becca made her first trip to le island with a Monster in tow. Literally, she hid her pup, Monster, under her hoodie to sneak him into my building. I think its retarded how dogs can't even live here let alone come for visits. I need animals in my life! We're allowed to have anything but a dog...do I hear, mini horse?
Also, this past weekend, I downloaded the pilot of this new show I'm sure you've heard much "gossip" about. Yup, "Gossip Girl." Its supposed to be the next "OC" and I actually think it might be better. I was so stoked when I heard rave reviews because I need some new show to obsess over since "So You Think You Can Dance" is done and "Rock of Love" only has one episode left. Soooo, since Friday evening, I've watched the pilot (which you can DL on iTunes) 4 times. Speaking of, we saw the original pilot they had before the iTunes version came out and there was a dramatic difference in sountrack changes and a couple switch ups in dialog. My friends roommate was shooting their "behind-the-scenes" promo pictures and got a the version on DVD. Score! Regardless, its an amazing show and I'm already in love and have crushes on %60 of the characters. Seriously, we have this show already laid out (i.e. the Mischa Barton, the Seth Cohen, the Desperate Housewives-ish narrator, the real-life relations we have to people in our own current lives. It'll be fun to get into.
